Screenprints

Handmade screenprints i did for my bachelor thesis. 7 different illustration styles, all in b&w. Topic was the evolution within a subcultural context. Especially in Graffiti& Hip Hop Fashion. Teenager always found them self with other like minded people together and always the elder saw a menace in them and their spiritual heritage endangered. But the case is that the society as also ongoing socialstructures will profit and grow from these groups. The Youth isn‘t afraid, no they demand their environment to rethink. Revolution in every generation. Today the drugs, tomorrow vegan. To define themself and provoke is the main point here. The motivation and reasons are most often the same here, they are trying to show that they are no longer addicted to or from their parents or their influence. No, the propper refuse it. Alhough there always was a youthculture is the term of the word relatively new one which was created in the beginning of the 20th century. In the middle of the century there was a dramatically splitting within these culture. And when im speaking of Youthculture i mean a revolutionary body of thought a new self defining to the authority. Those who had enough of the emotionless philistinism of their parents. These became noticeable especially through music and of course fashion. That what it is looking after a minority group, becuse only 1/4 of all teenagers count themself to one of these subculuturell youthgroups, is since this short development phase since the beginning of the 20th century, one of the most important innovator. Music and fashion which is dismissed by most or maybe not more as a joke. will be part of the mainstream culture of tomorrow. The temporary spirit of age which connetcts all of these groups, no matter if it is Punk, Hip Hop, Gothic, Rock etc. is the visual identification. Allthese groups created themself out of itself. Mainpoint of all these subcultures was to be independent and individual. There were no more need of big record labels or fashion brands. All these groups made and distributed their own records. Made their own shirts, created new markets. Fascinated from their spiritual heritage, because one of these cultures had a major influence on me as a person and what i do now, i try to recreaty these methods to represent my self and my art. I want to creat a t-shirt collection with black and white illustrations, and want to use the screen print procredure. I will use A3+ screen print frames to make prints which are big enough to fill most of the shirt front.
